The Importance of Sustainable Service

“That part we call enlightenment? We don’t get that privilege until we move toward that thing which we call humanity,” says Seane Corn as she discusses her work against sex trafficking in India. Emphasizing the importance of purging ourselves of the helplessness, the anger, and the myriad emotions that dredge up our own unresolved issues when we’re helping others escape their own trauma, she urges us to journal, pray, scream—but work it out somehow so that we can sustain our service to others.
