Unit 2: Advanced Ayurvedic Digestion and Nutrition

July 24-27, 2014
with Kathryn Templeton and Dr. Rosy Mann

Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Graduate or comparable
This unit begins where our AYS training left off in the process of nutrition, digestion and assimilation. We’ll begin with new ideas about agni. For example, when buddhikara agni or reasoning capacity is low we experience buddhihara or indecision and loose discriminative power. We will revisit the six stages of digestion and work in depth with rasa, virya and vipaka to deepen our understanding of how digestion becomes imbalanced and creates ama and eventually disease.

Unit 4: Sanskrit and Asana for Ayurveda

January 15-18, 2015
Kathryn Templeton and Sandra Anderson

Prerequisite: Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Graduate or comparable
This course expands our relationship with Sanskrit—the language of ayurveda and yoga; and with asana—the language of the body. Developing Sanskrit vocabulary will give us greater mastery of more advanced materials and empower communication of ayurvedic concepts with confidence and precision. We will also build asana practices to establish better balance, harmony and communication in the systems of the body. Take home a collection of practices for dosha pacification, ojas nourishment, and nervous system support; plus a working vocabulary to grow your study and practice.
