Time for a Gut Check!

with Evan Soroka

Style: Yoga Therapy

Duration: 45 min

Intensity: Moderate

Props: None

Class Description

This therapeutic practice is for people with type 1 diabetes who have gastroparesis (nerve damage that prevents the stomach from emptying properly). You’ll focus on building heat in the abdominal region and stimulating the vagus nerve, which plays a crucial role in the “rest and digest” function of the parasympathetic nervous system.

Throughout class, Evan guides you to move through breath-centric flows with “effortless effort” and to find moments of pause and integration. You’ll also explore agni sara (a complete practice in its own right that’s said to promote digestive fire), a self-massage technique for stimulating the abdominal organs, and supine core work.

Finally, you’ll experience deep stretches for the hips and hamstrings as you wind down toward a relaxing and assimilating guided savasana.
