Yoga International Internships

BY Yoga International ON January 7, 2014 is looking for people to join our team!  We represent the science of yoga in its ancient and authentic form, and we are looking for others who share in our passion.

Internship Includes:

  • A minimum commitment of one year unless otherwise stated.
  • Himalayan Institute Residential program, including room and board.
  • Access to yoga seminars, daily yoga classes, and many other opportunities to study with exceptionally experienced teachers.
  • Training and support for developing skills in each respective internship.
  • Financial aid of $200 per month to support living expenses.*
  • The opportunity to stay on as a part of the team after the initial internship.

Guest Services/Hospitality Internship

The Himalayan Institute, based in Honesdale, PA  is looking for a motivated Guest Services and Hospitality Coordinator who loves to serve others and shares our passion for satisfying guests. Experienced in the customer service industry, this position includes overseeing reservations, customer service, reception, and guest services areas, as well as acting as manager on duty for the entire retreat facility as needed.The intern is on the team entrusted with the complete guest experience from the time the guest first makes contact with the reservations department until the guest receives a satisfaction survey once they return home. 

The intern is responsible for ensuring the best quality onsite customer experience for our retreat center. This person will report directly to the Retreat Center Director, and also interface with key departments that engage with guests and residents, striving to ensure a high level of excellence to our care and service while working within the guidelines widely accepted throughout the Hospitality Services industry.

Close interactions with a variety of departments include, but not limited to, Programming, Food Services, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Event Logistics, Bookstore, Total Health Center, Yoga International and Business Operations.

A leader in the field of yoga, meditation, spirituality, and holistic health, the Himalayan Institute is a non-profit, international organization dedicated to serving humanity through educational, spiritual, and humanitarian programs.

Retail Manager Internship

Our retail stores consist of a bookstore, gift shop, cafe, health care services center, and e-commerce. We are looking for someone with both an educational and experiential background in retail operations to assist in the management of our stores.

Do you have an eagerness to learn how to maximize revenues and eliminate inefficiencies? Are you interested in working with a management team which has years of retail experience at all levels? You can learn with us as we integrate storefront and web and master new business systems such as Shopify, Stitch, and ShipStation!

Must have:

  • Customer service skills and experience
  • Merchandising and marketing know how and experience
  • Financial Analysis of retail sales knowledge
  • Inventory management experience


  • People management
  • Accounting/Finance knowledge

  • Purchasing experience


Audio-Visual Internship

  • Assist the production team in the planning and execution of our video content.

  • Assume videographer responsibilities in a variety of production scenarios and conditions.

  • Use control board to simultaneously operate 2 remotely-controlled cameras.

  • Balance and monitor audio equipment, including lavelier and shotgun microphones, camera levels, and mixing boards.

  • Edit and post-produce 2 and 3 camera productions in Final Cut Pro

  • Design clear and engaging text/info graphics to enhance educators' effectiveness

Must Have:

  • 3+ years video editing experience


  • Experience as videographer.
  • Proficiency in motion graphics software.
  • Experience operating remote cameras via joystick.
  • Experience color grading.
  • Lighting and set design experience.


Web Administrative Internship

  • Use Expression Engine platform to administer web changes.
  • Update home page and channel pages to feature new content.
  • Administer Yoga International archived print articles online for digital members
  • Data entry, including customer profiles and online content.
  • Data entry content support, including creating eCourses and posts for publishing on
  • Provide web support, including email and telephone customer service.
  • Evaluate google analytics, create custom reports, and review numbers.


Editorial/Content Assistant Internship

  • Be a part of a team creating the largest library of yoga education in the world!
  • Review, proof, write copy and edit blog posts, short descriptions, titles, etc.
  • Receive and review products, article submissions, books to review for publishing on
  • Develop supportive materials for eCourses to support the overall curriculum.
  • Repurpose video posts as written blog posts.
  • Support content producers in scheduling, executing and publishing videos, courses and written articles.

*Content assistant applicant must have a working knowledge of yoga science and philosophy.

Social Media Internship

  • Create and schedule social media posts on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Create and develop strategy for social media platforms including Pinterest, Instagram, google+ and youtube.
  • Market content and programs on each respective social platform.
  • Online and community outreach.
  • Analyze and develop social media strategy.

Design Internship

  • Create and maintain the visual aesthetics of
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: creation of info graphics, lead image design, graphics for videos and other exciting creative-visual projects.
  • Must have working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign.

Fundraising Internship

  • The Himalayan Institute is looking for someone with experience and/or education in multi-channel fundraising to partner with our Marketing and Finance teams.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: campaign creation, idea generation, and project management.
