started practicing yoga to seek relief from chronic back pain and found that yoga was a powerful and dynamic medium to explore the meaning of life. He began teaching in 1998, and has studied Bikram, Ashtanga, and Iyengar yoga. He was certified by B. K. S. Iyengar in 2005 and is registered as an ERYT-200 with Yoga Alliance. David is passionate about the study and practice of yoga. He teaches from personal experience, and invariably does so with great clarity and enthusiasm. His teaching style allows the student to investigate asana in layers: from the outside physical alignment, to the subtler realms of action within the postures, breath awareness, and mental focus. In this way, his teaching is understandable to beginning students and provides challenge for more seasoned yogis. David recognizes the potential of every one of his students. He teaches and gives constructive feedback in order to support each student to make progress in their particular areas of growth. He is accessible and generous when sharing his knowledge of yoga. In this way, he establishes a teacher-student relationship of trust and continuous learning. In addition to yoga, he is an avid rower on the San Francisco Bay. David received his MBA from the University of San Francisco. With his partner, Marisa Toriggino, he owns and operates Yoga Garden SF.
