At 17 years of age, David Keil was introduced to yoga in 1989 by his Tai Chi Chuan teacher. His explorations in mind-body connections eventually led to massage, and then teaching others how to see, feel, and touch the human body. David was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 1999 and travelled to Mysore, India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2002. David is authorized as a Level 2 instructor by the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute.
David taught Kinesiology at Miami’s Educating Hands School of Massage from 1999-2001, where he developed a fun, informal and informative style of teaching.
Because of his passion and desire to share the human body with everyone, David delivers complex and sometimes frustrating anatomy information in a way that is accessible and understandable to yoga practitioners.
David is a Neuromuscular Therapist, and uses this skill to deepen his workshops where students are regularly uncovering painful patterns or injuries in their bodies.
David was is indebted to his teacher John Scott of Penzance, UK. The first time David took a workshop with John, he knew he’d found his teacher. This began a relationship of teacher/student as well as a collaborative colleagues that continues today. David still teaches anatomy for all of John’s Teacher Training courses.
