Diane is a psychologist, yoga teacher, and consultant working in the field of health and wellness since 2001. She earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Life Span Development from the University of Virginia where she developed an expertise in stress, coping, and resiliency over the lifespan. She started practicing yoga to relieve stress and rekindle her connection to spirit. Her love of yoga and the practice lead to a life shift - where she made the tough decision to leave a 10 year academic career to pursue a career in yoga and working with children and families. Over the last 10 years, Diane owned a yoga studio, developed a 200 hour yoga teacher training curriculum, and developed a consulting model where she coaches parents and schools on how to implement evidence based strategies to promote social and emotional competence, reduce stress, and foster healthy interactions with children.
Diane is currently completing her 500 hour certification with Yoga Medicine lead by Tiffany Cruikshank. For many years, she had been accruing hours toward different 500 hour programs, but had not found the right fit - a high caliber yoga education that was translatable to the students in her community. From the first immersion with Yoga Medicine and Tiffany Cruikshank, Diane found the community, teacher, and program she was looking for. For over two years, Diane has been committed to continued training with Yoga Medicine and developing therapeutic yoga and meditation programs in her community.
Diane completed her first 200 hour teacher training with Shiva Rea (Prana Vinyasa Flow), her second 200 hours with YogaWorks, and over 100 hours in advanced training with Janet Stone. She is deeply inspired and grateful to all of these teachers and the many others she has trained with over the years. Currently, Diane's work is split between working with families and teaching yoga. She lives a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach with her husband, Omar and rescue dog, Prana. To learn more about Diane's offerings, visit: www.binduwellness.com
