Janessa Mondestin is a wellness professional, e-RYT200 | RYT 500, owner of Better Fit Body NYC and Soulthentic Yoga NJ. She offers an athletic style of Vinyasa Yoga with an emphasis on finding the sukha (ease) within the sthira (steadiness), from breath to breath and pose to pose. Janessa’s love affair with Asana began her senior year at college to counterbalance her weekend-warrior athletic events and weight-training. Yoga became her personal support system throughout her corporate banking career and in 2008 she traded in her pantsuits to pursue her passion for health, nutrition and wellness after tempering bouts with Lupus. She is an adjunct faculty for Stevens Institute of Technology teaching lifestyle, fitness and wellness course for students and staff. Her signature asana workshops are a blend of personal trainer corrective tools, lessons in biomechanics, and alignment-based asana hacks to make poses accessible to the body and not the body contorting to contrived asana. Her soft spot for yogis and athletes with injuries comes directly from personal experience and her enamor of the human body, its grace with each movement, no matter the capacity. Janessa’s story of transforming her body and mindset is a testimony to her mantra: I Am I Can I Do. Janessa is currently working on completing her Yoga Therapist accreditation through Spanda Yoga Professional Therapy training.
