She tells how the teacher she used to be—the “shavasana police” insisting on absolute silence—had to give way to a new kind of teacher/practitioner who, challenged by constant noise and far-from-ideal teaching conditions, discovered for herself and her Sugarland students a way of “slipping beneath surface sounds and finding a pristine place of peace within.”
