Hamstrings: Length and Strength

with Colin Hall

Style: Hatha Yoga

Duration: 30 min

Intensity: Moderate

Props: Blanket, Blocks

Class Description

Strong hamstrings are important for the mechanics of daily movement and the stability of our knee joints. However, the amount of time we spend strengthening our hamstrings in yoga is often disproportionate to the amount of time we spend stretching them.

In this class, which involves some hamstring stretching but mostly hamstring strengthening, you'll learn how to effectively activate and engage this important muscle group.

After completing the sequence, observe sensations. Perhaps your hamstrings feel a little more tingly, vibrant, alive, and just a little bit fatigued!

For this class you'll need: Two blocks are optional. And if you're practicing on hardwood or any slick surface, have a blanket (towel, washcloth, dishrag, sock, or sweater) available.

Audio and video downloads are available for Digital Members. Digital Members.
