Meditation is the path to making friends with your mind.
Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training: A Self-Guided 2-Part Program with Cyndi Lee is open to everyone: people who have never meditated before; meditators who want to deepen and refresh their practice; and teachers, therapists, and anyone else who wants to offer meditation instruction to others.
In Part 1, Cyndi teaches shamatha, or mindfulness meditation, as the foundation for cultivating self-knowledge and confidence in your own goodness, insight, and compassion. Regardless of your experience, you’ll learn what the “place of beginning” is and how to stay open to the opportunity of a fresh start in each moment. This part of the course will be your guide for beginning or further developing your personal meditation practice.
In Part 2, you’ll learn how to guide others in meditation. Cyndi will teach you how to offer meditation instruction to a group, how to structure and confidently deliver a 5-minute dharma talk, how to field questions, and how to lead group discussions.
With nearly thirty years of Buddhist meditation study and practice, Cyndi has structured this course around what are traditionally known as the “two wings of the bird”—study and practice—both of which you need to fly! In this course you’ll get:
Detailed instruction for mindfulness meditation (shamatha)
Detailed instruction for LovingKindness (maitri) meditation
An understanding of the origin of these practices and an overview of the Buddhist path
Guidelines for developing a regular meditation practice
Suggestions for finding a sitting posture that's appropriate for you and that will limit distractions
Answers to questions that new meditators often have
Suggestions for recognizing and working with obstacles that may arise during practice
A breakdown of the benefits and purpose of meditation
This course also includes a reading list, homework, a test for your own self-study between parts 1 and 2, and journaling prompts and FAQs to deepen your understanding of meditation. There will also be a Facebook group to support you as you begin to teach meditation to others.
Happy meditating!
