We all experience anxiety, tension, and fear sometimes. However, when we don’t have the tools to manage them they can prevent us from taking risks, meeting new people, and trying new things, in other words, leading a fuller life.
Gloria Latham’s short kundalini yoga course is designed to help you manage your anxiety and soothe your nervous system. In kundalini yoga, you turn your attention to the present with energizing poses and exercises, regulated breathwork, and mantra. By engaging your mind and body this way you can begin to see life more clearly and trust your gut.
Many of the poses/movements you’ll be doing in this course (for example, crow pose, frog pose, and standing twists) are designed to shift energy from the lower part of your body into the upper part of your body. In kundalini yoga, it is believed that shifting energy this way strengthens your capacity to rely on your intuition. You’ll also pair the kirtan kriya meditation mantra sa ta na ma with your movements to further enhance your ability to stay in the moment and move beyond negative thoughts (Gloria encourages you to try out the kriya if it’s new to you, but you can substitute any words that you like, for example, love, peace, joy, or anything else).
So take an hour out of your day to experiment with tools to help you gain more control of your anxiety—and then take a well-deserved rest at the end.
