Course Overview

Chakras are said to be energy wheels within our bodies—where our life force moves to and flows through—that are responsive to movement, pranayama, and meditation. This enlivening kundalini program, which incorporates all of these practices, will give you the tools to work with the seven chakras and allow you to become more familiar with them.

This is a weeklong program where you will get one class emailed to you each day (seven classes, one for each chakra). These classes start with the root chakra (muladhara) and end with the crown chakra (sahasrara), and each class has a different focus and intention that aligns with its corresponding chakra.

Enjoy the flow of these transformative kundalini yoga sequences, whether you choose to explore all of the chakras or just a few.

The flows you’ll get, in order:

Class one is a practice for the first chakra, muladhara, which is located at the base of the spine and associated with feelings of stability and connection to the earth.

Class two is a practice for the second chakra, svadhisthana, which is located at the pelvis and associated with creativity, pleasure, and emotion.

Class three is a practice for the third chakra, manipura, which is located at the navel (“solar center”) and associated with our sense of commitment, energy, and will.

Class four is a practice for the fourth chakra, anahata, which is located at the heart and associated with our desire to serve and our infinite (“unstruck” or unhurt) sense of self.

Class five is a practice for the fifth chakra, vishuddha, which is located at the throat and associated with communication, listening, and the ability to purify what we put out in the world.

Class six is a practice for the sixth chakra, ajna, which is associated with our third eye and intuitive abilities.

Class seven is a practice for the seventh chakra, sahasrara, which is considered the subtlest of chakras and is associated with the crown of the head and the mystery beyond us.

We hope you join us for this kundalini-powered journey through the chakra system!

Section 1
  • Explore a short warm-up that can work before any practice but is especially useful for the chakra practices that are to come.
  • This practice is for the first chakra, muladhara, which is located at the base of the spine and associated with feelings of stability and connection to the earth. The first half of the class includes dynamic seated forward folds and sit-up variations (including sit-ups where you’ll roll into a seated forward fold from plow pose). After that comes twists and chanting from seated wide-legged forward fold, a breath of fire variation you’ll explore as you do sit-ups, and 54 squats aka “frogs” (or as many as you can do). You’ll close with a guided meditation, tuning in to a sense of groundedness and...
Section 2
  • This practice is for the second chakra, svadhisthana, which is located at the pelvis and associated with creativity, pleasure, and emotion. During the first half of class, you’ll explore dynamic seated practices—including “body drops,” where you’ll press into your hands to lift your body off the ground and then release it back down, active arm movements, and swaying side bends. You’ll then do hip lifts on your back, a reverse tabletop flow, breath of fire from wheel pose or bridge, a locust variation, a standing forward fold flow, and more. You’ll wind down in child’s pose, noticing the flow of...
Section 3
  • This practice is for the third chakra, manipura, which is located at the navel (“solar center”) and associated with our sense of commitment, energy, and will. This class begins with breath of fire from a variation of head to knee pose. After that you’ll come onto your back for energizing leg kicks and “piston pumps” before moving onto hands and knees for a plank variation that integrates breath of fire. Then you’ll do a variation of “stretch pose” (a core-powered practice you’ll do on your back), a heart-energizing seated practice that includes active arm movements and meditation, and much more....
Section 4
  • This is a practice for the fourth chakra, anahata, which is located at the heart and associated with our desire to serve, and our infinite (“unstruck” or unhurt) sense of self. You’ll start on your back with an arm flow where you’ll kiss the palms of your hands, giving yourself a blessing of love and care. After that comes a sequence that includes a plow pose variation flow, a rock pose flow with mantra repetition (sat nam, “true self”), a deep squat with breath of fire, running in place while punching (to activate the heart meridian, which is said to be located in the arms), “kundalini lotus pose”...
Section 5
  • This is a practice for the fifth chakra, vishuddha, which is located at the throat and associated with communication, listening, and the ability to purify what we put out in the world. You’ll start by centering in a modified child’s pose. After that comes guided visualization in a staff pose variation, chanting ong (“creator”) in easy pose, heart-chakra-focused practices from seated and standing, an element-inspired (ether) flow from kneeling aka “rock pose,” breath of fire from rock pose, and more. At the end, you’ll do a concluding flow from rock pose that involves venus mudra before closing...
Section 6
  • This class for the sixth chakra, ajna, which is associated with our third eye and intuitive abilities. You’ll begin with seated breath of fire explorations that integrate energizing wrist and arm movements. After that comes breath of fire from standing, long and deep breathing in downward facing dog, bow pose, stretch pose, a rock pose flow, a three-minute child’s pose variation, and “bundle rolls.” You’ll close in easy pose, chanting sat nam (“true self”), and eventually sitting quietly, relaxing into your seat as you meditate with a sense of openness and receptivity.
Section 7
  • This class is for the seventh chakra, sahasrara chakra, which is considered the subtlest of the seven chakras and is associated with the crown of the head and the mystery beyond us. You’ll begin with dynamic seated practices that involve twisting, forward folding, and breathwork. After that comes an upward plank flow that integrates breath of fire, a squat flow, a standing forward fold flow, a standing side bend flow, and straight-leg kicks from standing while chanting (har). You’ll close with an 11-minute meditation where you’ll silently repeat the mantra har mukande. Mukande is said to be an...
